Questions people actually ask
Do I need an account?
No. You can learn without signing in and everything stays on your device. Signing in with Google or Apple exists so your decks, streak and progress survive a lost phone and follow you to a second device.
Does it work offline?
Mostly. Verbs, grammar, flashcards and quizzes are built into the app. Conversation audio, story audio and word illustrations stream the first time you open them and are then cached on the device, so a brand-new install needs a connection for its first lesson.
How does the pronunciation score work?
You record a line, the audio is transcribed by a speech-to-text service, and the transcript is compared word by word against the expected line. You get a score plus the specific words that did not come through.
Is my voice recording stored?
No. The recording is sent for transcription and is not kept on our servers afterwards. The full detail is in the Privacy Policy.
What is FSRS?
The scheduling algorithm behind the flashcards. It predicts when you are about to forget a card and shows it just before that, which is why the review pile stays small even as the collection grows.
How do I cancel a subscription?
Through Google Play or the App Store, not through us — subscriptions are billed by the store. Cancelling stops the renewal and you keep Premium until the period you already paid for ends.
